Differences in Thinking Styles
Neurodivergent thinking styles represent natural variations in how the brain encodes, processes and retrieves information. Rather than deficits, these are distinct cognitive frameworks—such as hyper-focus, divergent thinking and pattern recognition—that enable unique problem-solving and creative abilities, though they can clash with rigid, traditional environments.
*The above image shows the Neurons of 2 brains.
The left image is Neurotypical and has been 'pruned' so easily can travel from A to B.
The right image is Neurodiverse and has more 'unhelpful' pathways or creates original thought!
You decide if one is better than the other!
Executive Functioning
Executive functioning refers to the mental processes in the brain's prefrontal cortex that allow us to plan, focus attention, remember instructions and juggle multiple tasks. Often described as the brain's management system, these skills are essential for self-control, time management and achieving long-term goals.

The Known Senses and the Hidden Sences
Humans process the world using eight distinct sensory systems. While the traditional five senses gather information from the external environment, the three "hidden" internal senses monitor the body's position, movement and internal state to maintain balance, coordination and emotional regulation.

Sensory Differences
Sensory differences refer to how an individual's brain interprets and responds to information from their senses (sight, sound, smell, taste, touch, balance, body awareness, and internal states). Unlike physical impairments with eyes or ears, these differences occur in the neurological processing, meaning the exact same environment can feel drastically different from person to person.

Burnout
Burnout is a state of physical, mental and emotional exhaustion caused by prolonged, unmanaged stress. Recognised by the World Health Organisation as an occupational phenomenon, it is characterised by chronic fatigue, cynicism and reduced professional efficacy or motivation.

Mental Wellbeing
Mental wellbeing is the state of functioning well, coping with daily stresses and realizing your potential. It is more than just the absence of illness; it fluctuates based on your environment and how you respond to it, heavily influencing your physical health, productivity and relationships.

Coping Strategies
Coping strategies are techniques used to manage stress, reduce uncomfortable emotions and maintain well-being. Effective methods are generally divided into problem-focused approaches (tackling the stressor head-on) and emotion-focused approaches (managing your emotional reaction when situations cannot be changed).

Verbal Languge
Confusing verbal language is typically caused by either a mismatch in communication styles (such as literal vs. abstract thinking) or an underlying processing difficulty (like aphasia, auditory processing delays or brain fatigue).
Navigating conversational confusion effectively requires a tailored approach depending on whether you are struggling to communicate or having trouble understanding someone else. The most effective strategies depend on the exact nature of the difficulty.

Body Languge
Body language is the unspoken, nonverbal signals we use to communicate our true feelings and intentions. It accounts for a massive portion of daily communication and often speaks louder than the words you actually say.

Anxiety
Anxiety is a natural physical and psychological response to stress, presenting as feelings of dread, fear or tension. While occasional anxiety helps us navigate daily pressures, persistent, overwhelming worry can develop into an anxiety disorder, interfering with your daily life and relationships.

Disclosure
Neurodivergent disclosure is a personal choice about whether, when and how to share your neurodivergent identity with an employer, educator or peers. It is entirely voluntary and there is no legal requirement to share a diagnosis, though doing so unlocks specific legal protections and accommodations
Housing
Neurodivergent housing needs focus on creating safe, predictable environments that minimise sensory overload and support executive functioning. Key requirements include tailored sensory controls, safe outdoor spaces and specialised support to maintain independence and well-being.
Safeguarding
Safeguarding refers to measures designed to protect the health, wellbeing and human rights of individuals, enabling them to live free from harm, abuse and neglect. It is a proactive duty of care primarily focused on supporting children and vulnerable adults.
